Shell Package: A Better Alternative to Log Cabin Kits

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

In this economy, most of us are looking for ways to cut costs without slashing our dreams in the process. Here at Pennwood Cabins, we get asked about log cabin kits on a regular basis. Kits are indeed a great way to cut costs, but let's face it... a log cabin build-it-yourself kit isn't for everyone. If you have the skillset to read the blueprints, have the tools and know-how to organize and keep the project on track, you're probably qualified to just build it yourself. We won't even contemplate kits with missing bits and all of the headaches that would entail.

What if I told you, Pennwood offers an option that cuts the stress and still gives you amazing cost effieciency. I'm talking about our Shell Package. With a shell package you can start checking things of your lists

  • Floors

  • Outside walls

  • Moisture barrier

  • Inside walls

  • Log Siding

  • Exterior doors

  • Windows

  • Sheet metal roof

  • Ceiling insulation

Benefit #1: Cost

A Shell package will save you approximately $85 per square foot. For a 14x40 cabin that would add up to a savings of $47,600! It is the perfect way to get your dream cabin off to a quick start and still allow you to save by upcycling, recycling or clearance shopping for the interior design. While the package doesn't include electrical and heating options, simply request a free custom quote and we will adapt a shell option to meet your specific needs.

Benefit #2: Time

In my world, time is money. There isn't enough time in the day, and a DIY project requires lots of it. A Shell Package buys back half of the time you need to invest in designing your dream cabin without erasing the personal touches you want it to have.

Benefit #3: Stress

Tresses, code adaptions, and climbing on roofs can all be avoided with a Shell Package. It adds up to half the danger, getting the hard parts done by a professional, and fewer gray hairs. It's a win-win.

All of our cabins come with a Shell Package option. We believe our customers deserve versatility that doesn't included lowering quality standards to fit a budget! We are here to help make your dream log cabin become a reality! Browse our website at www.pennwoodcabins or give us a call at 814-967-2002.
